Redwood Strip canoe

This wood strip canoe is constructed in traditional methods. Its hull is Redwood strip’s that has been milled to a quarter inch thickness. Once milled to thickness a bead and coved is added to each piece then glued together. The final thing is to add a layer of 6 oz fiberglass to both the insides and the outside of the hull to add strength. The gunnels, yoke and keel strip are Ash. Ash is also the primary wood along with Black Walnut as an accent on the seats as well as the deck’s. At 16 feet long and 34 inches wide at the yoke this canoe is incredibly stable and perfect for the long distance river float with loads of gear or a casual day of fly-fishing on a mountain lake.
